International yoga day

The  International Day of Yoga is celebrated on June 21st every year. It was declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, following a proposal by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. The day aims to raise awareness about the numerous benefits of practicing yoga and promote its holistic approach to physical and mental well-being.

Yoga is an ancient practice that originated in India thousands of years ago. It involves a combination of physical postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), meditation, and ethical principles. Yoga is known for its ability to promote flexibility, strength, balance, relaxation, and overall health.

On the International Day of Yoga, people around the world participate in various activities to celebrate this ancient practice. These activities can include yoga classes, workshops, demonstrations, and seminars. Many cities organize public events in parks, stadiums, and public spaces, where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to practice yoga.

The International Day of Yoga has gained significant popularity globally, with millions of people participating in events organized by governments, yoga schools, and community groups. It serves as a reminder of the importance of incorporating physical activity, mindfulness, and self-care into our daily lives for a healthier and more balanced existence.

It's worth noting that while the International Day

of Yoga is primarily associated with India, yoga has transcended cultural boundaries and is practiced by people of various backgrounds and nationalities worldwide.
